Ministries

We have a number of ministries at Grace AME that are active and some that are under development. We encourage you to put your time and talents to work building the kingdom of God among the faithful.

Matthew 9:36-38 (NKJV)

36But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. 37Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38"Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."

Lay Organization

The Lay Organization is a ministry within the AME Church that is open to all members who are not clergy. The Lay Organization provides a vehicle for the members of the AME Church to organize and present their thoughts and ideas to the leadership of the church. We encourage all to be active members and participants to foster a rich spiritual experience for your church.

Usher Board

Psalms 84:10 (NKJV)
10For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

The Usher Board is comprised of church members who oversee the church congregation and visitors as to seating direction, order and decorum during church services. They attend to the needs of the Pastor, ministerial staff and congregants. They distribute bulletins and assist the Stewards in the collection of church offerings.

Food Ministry

Matthew 25:35 (NKJV)
35'for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;

Our Food Ministry actively works to provide food for those in need in the community. Each week we distribute food at the church and deliver to those who are not able to come to the church.

Women's Missionary Society

The WMS is called to discipleship to grow in knowledge and committed to support the mission of the church. The WMS promotes benevolence and spiritual engagement within the church and community through outreach and programing.

Young People Department (YPD)

The YPD is an organization that is supported by the WMS to provide meaningful youth training programs and opportunities for leadership in all areas of church life. By providing training in Evangelism, Christian Social Relations, and Education programs the YPD is designed to connect youth more fully to the mission of the church and increase knowledge of the African Methodist Episcopal Church history and the scriptures.

Church School

2 Timothy 2:2 (NKJV)
2And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

At Grace AME we are faithful men and women committed to teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. We teach Church School on a variety of subjects with a structure approach toward biblical study by reading God's word in its entirety, expounding and summarizing for clarity on its meaning and relevance to our daily life's.

Bible Study

2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
2Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Our Bible Study at Grace is another opportunity during the week to come together as a community and share the word of the living God, this word would come from the divine revelation of God toward the vision that God has for this ministry as well as guidance and directions for personnel lives. We foster a nurturing environment catering to all no matter where they are in their walk of faith.

The Amazing Grace Choir

Psalms 95:1 (NKJV)
1 OH come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.

The choir of Grace AME supports the ministry of the gospel of Jesus Christ through songs of praise and worship.

Men's Ministry

1 Timonthy 6:11 (NKJV)
11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.

The Men's Ministry at Grace is focused on promoting Christian discipleship among men as they traverse the varied and unique challenges a man faces in his walk of faith. We meet regularly to fellowship and plan programs and activities for the church and community.

Women's Ministry

The purpose of the Grace AME Church Women's Ministry is to support women in their relationship with God so that through spiritual friendships, mentoring, modeling, and teaching one another, we might experience the freedom to become all that God intends us to be. You are invited to participate in the various expressions of this important ministry.

Compassion Ministry

The Compassion Ministry of Grace AME Church consists of compassionate and trustworthy lay persons and ministers who share a Christ-centered journey with people who are hurting. It equips lay people and ministers to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing loss or difficulties in their lives. An in-depth training course is offered for members who desire to become involved in this life-changing ministry.
